The pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and conductor Zubin Mehta are both regarded as stars of classical music. Together, they travel to Khatia Buniatishvili’s home country of Georgia to the opening of a new international music festival. In two days, they are set to perform Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto together with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in an amphitheatre that is not yet finished. There are other challenges as well as conflicting views to overcome in their interpretation of the music. The film dramatically condenses the 48 hours leading up to the concert.

October 2018 is the four-hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the Thirty Years’ War. The documentary traces the story of how it was finally brought to an end with the peace of Munster and Osnabrück – the first peace in European history to be concluded at the negotiating table and not fought on the battlefield. The film is a German-Czech-Belgian co-production. With Rüdiger Vogler, Axel Wandtke, Manfred Möck, Anna Císařovská Marková and numerous other contributors.

The World of Bridges

Bridges connect people, continents and ideas. They can geaving meaning and an identity to places, to cultures or to people. Often, they were designed and built by master-builders – from stone, wood or steel.

The documentary series “The World of Bridges” portrays bridges from all over the world and shows their history as well as the stories taking place on and around them.
It combines captivating images from various countries and continents with fascinating stories.

Each episode combines two bridges, often on opposite sides of the globe, that have something in common, be it their construction type, their purpose or their type of use. The episodes and broadcasting times:

People are filming and taking pictures of themselves like never before. Since the invention of the photograph trillions of photos have been taken. But the easier it gets to “expose” everything and everyone, the more our self-evident freedom to portray the world is restricted by rules. Owners and copyright-owners of objects, buildings, trademarks and even landscapes claim money for the depiction of their property. The vast commercial potential within these images is becoming increasingly important. Algorithms, by means of face recognition technology and mobile profiles, yield invaluable data for the consumer- and advertising industry. Soon, the question of who owns a single image or who can copy a film for how much will be peripheral. The real moneymaker is the wealth of pictures of us all. If everything really does become a product – art, ideas, colours, the pictures of our surroundings and even our ‘selfies’ – then who do the pictures we take of ourselves, and our world belong to?

“Digital Africa” is a crossmedial journey (webseries + movie) that is turning the oldfashioned European picture of Africa. It´s a trip through a continent with glasfibre internet access and a creative start-up scene that comes up with technical ideas, useful across the world.
